Unfortunately, this is the second newsletter in the last couple of weeks to pass on news of a death in the music community.

The following note is taken from the BBC website: http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/africa/4782176.stm

One of Africa's best known musicians, Ali Farka Toure, has died after a long illness in his home country of Mali, the culture ministry has announced.

Toure very recently won his second Grammy Award, for In the Heart of the Moon, recorded with kora player Toumani Diabate. He has another album completed to be released soon, entitled King of the Desert Blues.
